We’re proud to welcome consultant, author and blogger Mark Graban to our panel of experts. Mark is highly regarded for his client work in continuous improvement and Lean management, and is the author of several books including the Shingo Prize winner, Lean Hospitals: Improving Quality, Patient Safety and Employee Engagement.

Mark is also the founder of the LeanBlog, where he blogs and hosts an original podcast series about Lean in hospitals and the broader business community.

He finds Friday Night at the ER to be well aligned with Lean disciplines and valuable as a hands-on teaching tool.

“In a game like this,” Mark wrote in a recent post, “the lessons about transparency and visibility are clear (and related to Lean concepts). Unlike a real hospital, we had the benefit of being literally seated around the table. This improved our ability to collaborate, make shared decisions and to avoid sub-optimizing our own silo.”
